DHEMAJI, March 22: The 11th special session of the Mising Agom Kebang (Mising Sahitya Sabha) held at Posum Sivoram Pegu Lotta at Somkong in Simen Chapori under Joi Sub Division in Dhemaji district came to an end today.
The members of the Mising Agom Kebang took some important resolutions during the three-day session of the Mising literary body.
Various issues and problems on the development of the Mising language and literature were discussed in the programme.
The open session of the event was chaired by president of Mising Agom Kebang Dr. Jawahar Jyoti Kuli. The iugural speech was delivered by the former president of the Mising Agom Kebang Gha Kanta Lagachu. Lagachu in his speech said that in order to revive and carry forward the community , the language and culture must be developed and for this support and encouragement of each and every member of the community is required. "In depth study of the language and culture is of utmost necessity for its development," he added. He also mentioned about Dr. Homen Borgohain's prediction about the possible extinction of the indigenous languages of Northeast if it continues to degrade at these phase.
Dr. Bideswar Doley, former president of the Mising Agom Kebang said that "Agom Kebang 2015" aims at inclusion of the Mising language as a medium of instruction at the primary school level.
"Constitution will be framed for its implementation. Only 230 language teachers have been appointed since 1995 by the State government," he stated.
Renowned writer and first president of the Mising Agom Kebang hendra Padun said that without adequate teaching infrastructure and glossary terms of the language, many problems could arise in the application process.
"For this systematic alysis and study of the language will be the first step towards its development", he added.
