Silchar, April 17: In order to mitigate the problem faced by border population and to strengthen the bond of mutual trust, BSF has gone one step further to address the issues raised by the farmers of villages of Indo-Bangladesh border in Mizoram. It is relevant to mention here that the construction of border security fence along the Indo-Bangladesh border areas has not gone down well with the villagers, who have been opposing the construction of fence, apprehending they might lose their land in the event of the construction and raising of fence.

In order to alleviate their fear, BSF Mizoram and Cachar Frontier has arranged visit of Mizo farmers to Barak Valley on Monday at border out post (BOP) Harinagar 131 Bn BSF and shown them how gate management along the border is carried out in the area. BSF takes every care to ensure that no inconvenience is caused to the farmers of border villages on one hand and keeping strict vigilance along the border on the other hand. After witnessing the gate management, the farmers came back to their respective villages with full satisfaction.

The visit has removed the misgiving and also apprehension from the minds of the Mizo villagers that border gate management will anyway have adverse impact. Rather, a sense of confidence has been built up in them that this kind of management at the border is in their overall interest. BSF on its part is satisfied that this will further add to the exercise of creating better and healthy relations with border population.
