Mizoram Police Launches Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and System

Guwahati: In an effort to enable the general public to file their complaints easily with the help of online services, Mizoram police have launched Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and System (CCTNS). This online networking system integrates all the 39 police stations and 52 higher offices that are based in the state.

Balaji Srivastava, Mizoram Director General of Police (DGP), launched this system right on the Independence Day in four police stations of Aizawl. The four police stations to get this online networking system currently are Aizawl police station, Bawngkawn police station, Vaivakawn police station and Kulikawn police station.

Further, addressing the media, Mizoram Inspector General of Police (Intelligence & law and order) and state level nodal officer of CCTNS project, LH Shanliana brief the details about the online system. He stated that the main objective of this comprehensive and integrated system is to make way for effective policing through E-governance with the help of information technology. Not only the existing 39 police stations and 52 higher offices in Mizoram, it, however, is providing connectivity to all 15,268 police stations across the country as well. Now, with the launch of this online system, people living under the jurisdiction of the four police stations will be able to lodge their complaints without going to the respective police station in person. Shanliana also added that this is just a stepping stone in the effort to maintain law and order within the state and to enable the police in creating a peaceful environment.

Explaining more on the project and the story behind its development, the superintendent of police, CID (crime) and deputy nodal officer of CCTNS, Zosangliana said that the idea of the project was conceived way back in 2009 only and was implemented a year later. Data operators will be monitoring the citizen portal 24×7 so that the citizens can be catered with total support and safety.

The web address to avail the portal is www.cctns.mizoram.gov.in/citizen and can be utilised for an array of services like employee/tenant verification, character certificate request, domestic help request, submission of complaint and search FIR.
