SHILLONG, Jan 27: Mizoram won the women’s event at the tiol Judo Team Championship here today, with Punjab picking up the men’s gold.
The championship was organised by the Judo Federation of India and Meghalaya Judo Association and acted as a test event for next month’s 12th South Asian Games 2016.
Around 100 judokas from across the country took part in the championship, which was held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Sports Hall.
Mizoram defeated Harya in a close women’s team fil, with Manipur grabbing the bronze. Punjab then overwhelmed Delhi in the men’s fil, with Harya finishing third.
South Asian Games (Shillong) CEO Mr RK Sharma presented the trophies to the respective first and second teams.
