MLA Wanglam Sawin lauds Assam Rifles for health camp

ITANAGAR: The Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles undertook free mega medical camp at remote New Lainwang village in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh on Monday. In its continuous efforts to reach out the needy and medically deprived section of far flung border villages of northeast along the Indo – Myanmar border, the Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of DAO Division organized medical camps in various remote villages of Tirap and Longding districts since August 21 last, an official release informed. Attending the Mega Health Camp at New Lainwang – Local MLA Wanglam Sawin lauded and appreciated the efforts made by Assam Rifles and called it a step forward towards confidence building measure to inculcate trust in Army and public relations will be boosted.

He informed that due to the remote and rugged topography the area was devoid of such noble endeavors. Such people friendly initiatives will not only benefit the villagers but will ward off any fear and misunderstood perceptions.

A medical team led by Col Robin Kumar, CO 16 Assam Rifles, Unit Regimental Medical contributed towards the successful execution of the camp. People residing in nearby villages of Old Lainwang, New Lainwang, Old Katang and New Katang were also informed in advance about the conduct of the event.

The people displayed their enthusiasm by attending the medical camp in large numbers, the release added.
