MLAs apprise Rijiju on refugee issue

Itagar, October 27: A delegation of legislators from msai district led by Chow Mein and Chau Zingnu mchoom called on MoS for Home Kiren Rijiju at his official residence in New Delhi on October 24 last and apprised him of the concerns of the local people in the wake of recent Supreme Court’s verdict of granting Indian citizenship status to Chakma & Hajongs refugees in the state. The delegation made a strong plea in order to seek the support of MHA in finding a lasting solution and also to make effective review of the SC’s verdict in the interest of indigenous people of Aruchal Pradesh. After a patient hearing, Rijiju appraised the delegation that MHA is taking strong note of the court’s order and informed that proper advice has already been given to the state government for making a review petitions in the SC. The delegation has also expressed their displeasure with the way the state government has handled the case in casual manner where even the Advocate General was in not present during the hearing which resulted in the ex-parte decision which went against the indigenous people of Aruchal Pradesh.
