Based on intelligence inputs, a joint raid was carried out in Hatigaon, Guwahati, but the legislator, who is also the one time leader of the proscribed Hynniewtrep tiol Liberation Council (HNLC), could not be found. After a Non-Bailable Arrest Warrant (NDAW) against the Independent MLA from Mawhati was issued by the District Session Court on Wednesday surveillance was carried in almost every probable place and a raid was carried out today, stated the Superintendent of Police (City) Vivek Syiem on Thursday.

As per the inventory in the District Session Court, a state lawyer moved a petition on Wednesday for his surrender. It was a flip-flop show after the absconding counsel pulled out. Meanwhile, the closed aides of militant leader turned MLA were summoned to know his actual whereabouts. They were surrendered HNLC militants who were part of his coterie till he absconded after December 29.
