MMBCC to continue its support for Congress

SHILLONG, Dec 15:  Thousand of Mawsynram Mahila Block Congress Committee (MMBCC) members in a meeting held on Wednesday at Ritmawsir Restaurant  located near PWD (Roads) Mawsynram Division, has unimously decided to continue supporting the Congress party and to support any candidate put forward by the party to contest the 2018 Assembly elections.

The meeting was organised by Jean Lamare, President Mawsynram Mahila Block Congress Committee along with Jansi Kharraswai, Vice-President, Khelor Kharior President Mawsynram Block Congress Committee (MBCC) beside others.

The decision of the Mahila Block Congress Committee, came after a few member of the Mahila, in a meeting held on December 10, at Mawsynram took a resolution to resign from the Congress and instead support, Pynshngain N Syiem, MLA/MDC of Mawsynram constituency who is currently suspended from the Congress for anti-party activities.

Members of the Mahila from various regions under Mawsynram constituency said that in the past 10 years they had worked tirelessly to make sure Pynshngain N Syiem win both the election as an MLA/MDC from Mawsynram constituency however it was all for nothing as he has not done anything for the people. “We had no more enthusiasm to work for the Congress party however the moment the party suspended him (PN Syiem) we regained our commitment to the party with an aim to find a candidate who will look into the needs of the people of the region,” they said.

The Mahila members also expressed that despite the fact some members have removed themselves from the party, however the remaining members will work hard to make sure that a Congress candidate will win the MLA elections in 2018.
