MANGALDAI, Sept 10: Mangaldai Media Circle (MMC), a premier organization of media persons in Mangaldai celebrated its 10th foundation day on Saturday at Chapai Yuba Kayan Kendra, Mangaldai by organizing a lecture on ‘The songs and poems of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika and the younger generation’.
“Bhupenda had deep faith and high hopes from the younger generation, which is easily reflected in his immortal songs, poems and writings, and his sole aim for these unique creations was to inspire and motivate the younger generation,” said eminent cultural persolity, composer and poet Dr. Mril Choudhury who has been leading the premier cultural organization Yuba Teertha as its president. Dr Choudhury as the guest speaker in the function also shared his persol experience with the creations of Bhupenda.
Earlier, a scholar on folk culture, Dr. Bijoy Kumar Sarma, while iugurating the function by lighting an earthen lamp infront of the portrait of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, described Bhupenda as a beautiful poem which could be read again and again with same attraction and inquisitiveness. Former jourlist and DIPRO of Darrang, Manimala Gogoi Kalita, while taking part in the function as an invited guest, rrated her beautiful moments of life in taking the last interview of this legendary persolity.
In the function well anchored by media person Ganesh Dutta, secretary of MMC, Mayukh Goswami extended a hearty welcome to invited guests and the gathering. Four short films on the life and works of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika were screened. The presentation of a recitation by Sangita Thakuria, the melodious performance of the immortal songs of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika by upcoming artistes Anwesha Goswami, Antariksha Kalita, Nibedita Das, Bashree th, Dolypriya th and Roktotpal Barua added another colour to the function. Singer of repute, Tutu Hazarika also paid his homage by performing several songs of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika.
