MMECC lauds CM for keeping his assurance

SHILLONG, March 31: The Meghalaya Minerals Exporter’s Chamber of Commerce (MMECC) has expressed gratitude towards the Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma for keeping his assurance to eases the people who are engaged in the lime stone activities. The Chief Minister had made the assurance during the just concluded Assembly Budget Session this month. MMECC leader Stodar Dkhar said with the prom direction from the Chief Minister the forest department, through the office of the Divisiol Forest Officer (DFO) territorial Shillong, has asked all those who are engaging in this trade to submit their application for re-assessment of the old stock of lime stone that is still left in various quarry, after verification challan will be issued to start transportation. In this connection, Dkhar MMECC felt that the Chief Minister has taken the right direction to ease the hardship of the people who earn their livelihood on this trade, since thousands of people are directly engaged on lime stone activities. The MMECC further urged the DFO, territorial East Khasi Hills District to expedite the process of re-assessment at the earliest, and to issue challan so that people who have their old stock of lime stone in their quarry can start transportation.
