MMSA conference held

Shillong, February 6: The 19th scientific conference cum general body meeting of the Meghalaya Medical Services Association (MMSA) under the theme ‘Health Care Delivery–Limitations and Beyond’ was held today at the State Convention Centre in Shillong.

“There are limitations in every sphere of activity,” said Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister, Rowell Lyngdoh while speaking on the occasion as the chief guest.

Lyngdoh urged the doctors to look beyond limitations and render their service selflessly to the poor and the downtrodden.

He further added that the members of the MMSA should shoulder the responsibility of ensuring medical services to each and every village of the State.

Speaking on the occasion as the Guest of Honour, Meghalaya Minister for Health and Family Welfare A L Hek highlighted the importance of the conference and said that such meetings will be of great help not only to the doctors and the Government but also to the service providers and the stakeholders at large.

He urged the doctors to provide the best healthcare facilities to the poor and the needy and further encouraged the doctors to strive harder and render their services with dedication. “I hope that the deliberations at the technical session will benefit the stakeholders”, Lyngdoh added.

Roshan Warjri, Meghalaya Home Minister, who also attended the iugural function said that in spite of the lack of infrastructure and uvailability of the latest healthcare technologies, the doctors in the State are doing a commendable job in providing the best facilities for all.

It may be mentioned that doctors and stakeholders from within and outside the State also attended the iugural function. On the occasion, the chief guest released a souvenir of the MMSA.
