Mob attacks Demow Police during raid

DEMOW, January 19: On Monday evening a team of Demow Police was going to raid in Attabari Tea Estate Line to destroy the illicit liquor and liquid jaggery outlets when the local people restrained them and even attack the police car. Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Chittaranjan Iswariya and constable Biman Dutta of Demow Police Station were injured.  According to sources, illicit liquor business has been carried out since a long time in Attabari Tea Estate Line which was polluting the social environment of the area. The Demow Police raided the area on Monday evening but a large number of people allegedly attacked the police team with bamboo sticks and sharp weapons and even damaged the police car. When the situation turned chaotic, a team led by Moni Mohan Koch, OC of Demow Police Station, reached the spot and took stock and control of the situation. The injured Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) and constable were taken to Demow Model Hospital for treatment.
