Mobile Theatre Group Abahan Begins Tour

PATHSALA: “Mobile theatre is the strongest media to transform as well as uplift the culture of the society,” said Hrishikesh Goswami, press advisor of the Chief Minister of Assam, during his speech to declare open this year’s tour of one of the prominent mobile theatre groups, Abahan at Pathsala recently. During his speech, he cited various examples of famous plays and explained how the power of borgeet and other songs have positive impact in the socio-cultural life. Earlier, the mouthpiece of the theatre group Rangabedika, jointly edited by Pulu Kumar Sarma and Gopal Jalan, was formally released by Thaneswar Malakar, noted writer and Deputy Commissioner of Barpeta.

On the occasion, this year’s Bhabendra Nath Saikia Memorial Award was conferred to noted lyricist and music director Dasarath Das. The programme was also attended by Priti Saikia, wife of Bhabendra Nath Saikia, and Bhyolate Barua, Superintendent of Police.
