Mock drill on earthquake conducted

GUWAHATI, Nov 7: A  district level joint mock drill on earthquake disaster with district stake holders on was conducted today at Bongaigaon to ensure effective response by all stake holders, officials in case of emergency, stated a press release. 1st BN NDRF took active participation & assisted ASDMA in planning & co-ordition at the initial stage  & played a  leading role during  the conducted of mock drill.  NDRF, SDRF, Civil Defence, Fire Service, 108 ambulance service, Scout & Guide, Traffic police,Volunteers from the community & NGOs participated in the exercise.

NDRF rescuers  during  the exercise used various extrication methods like rope rescue, high rise rescue & victim stabilization after triage of victims following the  disaster site safety plan.

On this occasion S K Sastri, Commandant of First Bn NDRF said “These exercises ensure activation & prompt response of all stake holders in a district & such frequent mock drills also make the district response system more effective & result oriented at the time of actual disaster. Mock drills provide suitable platform & sustaible mechanism for state & central  authorities for synchronization & rapid employment of rescuers at district/state level. These exercises should be frequently conducted in every district as the whole NE region  falls under high risk zone in terms of earthquake.”
