Mock drill on quake

Itagar, April 23: In order to prepare the mass to face the havoc of earthquake, the Capital complex district disaster magement authority (DDMA), is all set to organize a mock drill at various areas here on April 25 next.
As the twin cities of Itagar and harlagun lies in the Zone V, an earthquake drill would not only help check the preparedness level of the public but will also allow people to participate thereby generating awareness among people them during such disaster.
The mock drill would be conducted at various locations in harlagun such as the Tomo Riba state hospital, Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1, police colony and market area from 8am to 1pm while the earthquake shaking warning would be given out at 8.50 am in the morning through PCR vans.
In this regard a meeting was held at the state guest house here on Friday which was attended by all the stakeholders where DC Sandeep Kumar Singh, who is also the chairman of the DDMA briefed on the roles and responsibilities of all the stakeholders including the task forces.
The DC on the occasion also took stock of the entire preparation for the mock drill including relief camp, volunteers, machineries etc from harlagun EAC Hento Karga who is also the incident commander.
Singh further urged all the stakeholders to coordite and cooperate with each other and to be ready with their resources so as to discharge their duties seriously.
He has also appealed to the citizens of the Capital complex to maintain calm and participate in the mock drill.
Capital SP Devendra Arya, fire and emergency services SP Kime Aya, 1st APPBn commandant Tojo Karga and NDRF assistant commandant also briefed on their role and availability of various resource including manpower available with them, a press release said here today.
