Mock exercise conducted in city

Shillong, March 31: To inculcate the culture of preparedness among the community and facilitate the district administration in reviewing adequacy and efficacy of the Disaster Magement Plan of the district, the District Disaster Magement Authority (DDMA), East Khasi Hills today conducted a mock exercise on earthquake scerio of magnitude 7.5 on ritcher scale at Marba Hub, Police Bazar, Shillong, press release stated.

The exercise was carried out as per the Incident Response System (IRS), a mechanism which response through a well conceived team which consist of the Incident Commander and the teams from the Operation, Planning and Logistic sections under the control and command of the Responsible Officer (RO) who is the Deputy Commissioner of the District.

The Mock exercise was participated by the departments of Police, Health, Civil Defence and Home Guard, PWD, Fire and Emergency Services, Information and Public Relations, Power, EMRI 108, among others. The volunteers from the Indian Red Cross Society, Marba Hub, Glory Plaza and Hotel Centre Point also participated in the exercise.

After the exercise, debriefing was carried out under the Chairmanship of the Incident Commander, Smti I.Majaw, ADC, East Khasi Hills, the release added.
