Modern policing different from that of colonial period: DGP Mukesh Sahay

Joysagar, June 12: Assam DGP Mukesh Sahay visited Sivasagar on Sunday and also took part in the concluding session of All Assam Police Association which was held in Yuba Dol auditorium of Sivasagar from June 9 to June 11. In the concluding session’s open meeting, Assam DGP addressed the gathering and said that modern policing was different from that of the colonial period. Nowadays it is believed that every citizen is a policeman without uniform and every policeman is a citizen in uniform. He also focused on reforms in Assam Police and modernization. He revealed about the steps taken by the State Government to implement the Seventh Pay Commission of Assam and hoped that this would improve the lives of all the police personnel in the State.

DGP Sahay was accompanied by IGP Dr R K Mee (Eastern Range). Dr. Mee also interacted with the police delegates gathered in Sivasagar from various parts of Assam and appealed to them to be honest and sincere in their duties. Besides, the Commandant of 149 CRPF, S K Srivastav also participated in the AAPA’s conclave on Sunday as a guest.  After the Sivasagar visit, Assam DGP preceded to Jorhat district and there he reportedly visited many police stations.
