Mohammad Shami secures the feat of fastest Indian bowler with 100 ODI wickets

Guwahati: New generation fast bowler of the national team, Mohammed Shami has been able to clinch the fame of being the fastest Indian bowler to claim 100 ODI wickets. The bowler secured this feat during the first one-dayer against New Zealand at Napier which happens to the 56th match of his career. The wicket he took to secure the feat was of the wicket of opener Martin Guptill.

Before Shami, another fast bowler, Irfan Pathan has held the title of being the fastest Indian bowler with 100 wickets. Pathan had secured this achievement in his 59th match while playing against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi in 2006.

The world record in this field of being the fastest bowler securing 100 ODI wickets in the international cricket is well possessed by Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan. Rashid has achieved this success in only 44 games.

The last match that Shami played for making this feat witnessed him taking 3 wickets for 19. Apart from Martin Guptill, the other two wickets that Shami took are of Colin Munro and Mitchell Santner’s.
