Mohilary lays foundation stone of Bodoland Guest House staff quarter

KOKRAJHAR, Sept 23: Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) chief Hagrama Mohilary on Friday laid the foundation stone of the staff quarter of Bodofa Upendra th Brahma Memorial Cultural Centre-cum-Bodoland Guest House at Salugara, Siliguri in West Bengal in presence of several dignitaries, including Executive Members of the council. The five-storey staff quarter is to be built in another plot near the existing Bodoland Guest House.

Talking to reporters, BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary said the council had laid the foundation staff quarter of Bodofa Upendra th Brahma Memorial Cultural Centre-cum-Bodoland Guest House at a cost of Rs. 4.52 crore. He said the staff quarter would facilitate space for the employees working in the centre, besides giving opportunity for other employees visiting Siliguri. He also said the quarter would be G+4 and to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 4.52 crore to facilitate staff and visitors in the region.

Mohilary said a review meeting on BTC accord implementation would be held in New Delhi on October 5 where the meeting would discuss on the implementation of some clauses of the historic Bodo Accord, including central assistance amounting to Rs. 1000 crore to the council, granting of ST (Hills) status to the Bodo people in Karbi Anglong, and functioning of departments in the council, including direct funding pattern. He said that a tripartite review meeting on the BTC Accord implementation would be held in Delhi in the presence of central officials on October 5. He also said the BTC administration would seek disaster magement and relief and rehabilitation department to bring more development works in the council.

The BTC chief also held a meeting with the delegation of West Bengal Boro Somaj at the conference hall of Bodoland Guest House-cum-Bodofa Upendra th Brahma Cultural Centre, Siliguri and discussed at length on the Bodo language and medium aspects in West Bengal.
