Molestation slur on security officials

KOKRAJHAR, May 1: A 35-year-old woman in remote Rupthpur village in Kokrajhar district has filed a complaint against the officer in-charge of Kachugaon police station, Pranjal Hati Barua and an army officer, for allegedly torturing and stripping her and molesting her to the Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner.

In her complaint to DC, the woman, a mother of three, said that the O/C and army officer along with their party entered the house while they were sleeping around 10.30 pm on Wednesday evening and tortured her husband Merga Basumatary badly and pulled him out of the house.

She said that when she protested, the security forces tortured her physically and strips off her dress and assaulted her physically trying to molest her. She said they were seeking information about her husband, who was allegedly arrested by security personnel on Wednesday late evening. The villagers too alleged that the security personnel and police have been torturing the villagers accusing them of sheltering militants.
