‘Moral education must to shape a child'-Dibrugarh University VC in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: “The formal education of the school is not enough to shape a child as a deserving person or good citizen. The students must be well-enhanced with moral education,” stated Dr Ranjit Tamuli, the Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University, in Lakhimpur on Saturday.

He made this statement while taking part as the chief guest in the Abhinandan programme- the felicitation programme for meritorious students, organized by Lakhimpur district unit of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) in collaboration with its North Lakhimpur subdivisional and regional bodies at the District Library auditorium. In his lecture, he further urged the student community to propel their academic life with perseverance, hard work and with the culture of positive qualities.

The programme organized on this occasion was chaired by the district AASU president Pulok Jyoti Borah. It was inaugurated by AASU central committee finance secretary Krishna Das while district secretary Dhanmoni Dutta delivered the welcome speech. AASU general secretary Lurin Jyoti Gogoi graced the occasion as the appointed speaker. “The students of the State are pursuing their education facing various challenges and conflicts. Under such circumstances, their knowledge, wisdom and talent must be responsible for social well-being,” stated Lurin Jyoti Gogoi in his speech while urging the students to go ahead towards their goal with constant endeavour.

Internationally acclaimed innovator, Padma Shri Dr. Uddhab Kumar Bharali and Lakhimpur DC Dr. Jeevan B also delivered inspiring lectures addressing the students.

In the programme, the seven students of Lakhimpur who bagged top ranks in the HSLC and HS final exams, HSLC topper Meghasree Borah, fifth rank holder Tuhsif Tamanna Rahman, seventh rank holders Deepjyoti Sarmah and Aloy Burhagohain, HS topper in the Science stream, Bitupan Arandhora, fifth rank holder Ayan Koushik Mahanta and 10th rank holder of the Arts stream, Shibani Nath and their parents were given warm felicitation. Along with them, total 506 meritorious students of the district were felicitated in the programme by the organization with citations, mementos and bundles of books like the previous years.
