Moral Policing Woes: One lynched in Sivasagar

JOYSAGAR, Aug 8: In yet another case of moral policing, a labourer identified as Duryodhan Newar (54) was killed/lynched by someone in Sholey gaon near Durga Mandir of Phukan Nagar under Sivasagar Sadar PS on Tuesday night. Newar was suspected to be a cattle smuggler as he was found returning home with a cow. According to sources, the cow owned by him had gone missing for the last few days. Learning that it was grazing near the Dikhow River, he brought it back. Local people spotted his body in the morning and informed the police. A case has been registered in this connection.
