Morans demand autonomous council

DIBRUGARH, MARCH 27: Thousands of people from the Moran community today took out a silent procession in Tinsukia demanding an autonomous council for the community and its inclusion in the Sixth Schedule. The protest rally which kicked off from -phukhuri area, and it passed through Bus Stand, Over bridge, Chirapatty, GNB Road  and Rangagora Road later culmited at DC office. The participants exhibited the cultural heritage of the ethnic community at the rally. Speaking to The Sentinel, president of All Moran Students Union (AMSU), Arun Moran reiterated their demands and vowed to continue their struggle till they achieve success. “A similar cultural protest rally will also be brought out on April 7. More than fifty thousand people will participate in it,” Moran said. He further disclosed that the community would take a “strong decision” on both the issues at the raising day celebration of Moram Jatiya Mohila Parishad , to be held at Filobari on March 30.
