A Reporter

SHILLONG, April 29:  Operations by the East Garo Hills (EGH) police on Sunday led to the recovery of another cache of weapons, including the iconic 7.62 machine gun used extensively by the now deceased commander in chief of the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA), Sohan D Shira. The recovery made today is a continuing operation of the police to locate hidden stash of the GNLA in many parts of the district - this being the 5th such recovery in about a month. The search for hidden weapons has been helped by local residents of the many villages on the other side of the Simsang river in the district, a known GNLA stronghold. The recoveries were made over a period of a few days in different locations of Rongbokgre and Dorengkigre in East Garo Hills.
