Mount Kailash: The Sacred Peak & Its Mystical Legends

Mount Kailash is the holiest and enigmatic mountain of the globe, which is found in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. It measures from its highest point 6,638 meters or 21,778 feet. The spiritual significance of Mount Kailash is high as this mountain shows presence in five religions, including Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and the Bon faith, and this mountain, relatively smaller than any other Himalayan peak, touches such heights in its spiritual and mythological values that make it a pilgrimage destination for every corner of the world. 

The Legend of Mount Kailash 

In Hindu mythology, the Mount Kailash legend states that it is the abode of the destroyer and transformer among the sacred triad of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. 3. The Unclimbed Peak: It has been attempted by so many people; no one has conquered Mount Kailash. It is not only because the mountain is difficult to climb; its sanctity also bars climbers. Stepping on this holy summit is considered sacrilegious, and reverence for the mountain has deterred climbers. 

4. Religious Pilgrimage: Thousands of pilgrims undertake the difficult Kailash Kora, a circumambulation of the mountain that covers 52 kilometers. The Hindus and Buddhists go round it in the clockwise circle round the mountain. The Jains and Bon practitioners make it in the counterclockwise motion. This round is believed to purify sins and bring spiritual enlightenment. The Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage is considered one of the holiest yatras in Hinduism.The Mount Kailash Bon religion also holds the mountain in high regard. 

Mount Kailash is steeped in myth and mystery. Much speculation on the origin of Kailash will be made impossible given its unusual, more humanly made pyramid look. Others relate that time seemed to act quite strange around Kailash, about which travellers claim hair and nails seem to grow in abnormal speeds. Without proof to back up what they say is science, these claims build upon the aura concerning the mountain.
