MPF demands special session

Shillong, Feb 2: The opposition parties under the Meghalaya Peoples Forum (MPF) today demanded the Speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Abu Taher Mondal to convene a special session of the House to discuss on the Meghalaya High Court order passed on January 13 this year. Terming the Court order as a matter of serious concern, secretary of the MPF, Jame K Sangma stated, “The Legislative Assembly is the most appropriate platform to discuss the matter.”

The Meghalaya High Court in its ruling stated that candidates who want to contest for the post of traditiol heads must have minimum qualification. The court also directed the authorities concern to bring the traditiol bodies under the purview of the Right to Information Act.
