MPYC representative met Parliamentary Secretary PHE

FROM A REPORTER
SHILLONG, May 8: MPYC president Richard Marak along with other MPYC representatives and members met the Parliamentary Secretary PHE and Tura North MLA Noverfield Marak in an effort to find solutions to the ongoing water crisis in Tura. After discussion with the Parliamentary Secretary, they met the Additiol Chief Engineer, the Executive Engineer and the Superintending Engineer of PHE. MPYC president R Marak said, “After the discussions we found that the problems were manifold, and one of those problems was that due to erratic voltage fluctuations, the pumps could not be operated for the required quantity of time.” According to one of the officers, the voltage would be either too high or too low and though repeated requests were made to MeECL here in Tura to rectify the problem, they were always referred to Shillong. “Another problem is the distribution being done by both PHE and the District Council,” said Marak, adding, “One more major problem is the deadlock in the Daribok dam from the Tura Water Supply Phase I and Phase II Augmentation Scheme.”
