MSSASA submits memorandum to Meghalaya Chief Minister

SHILLONG, Jan 31: The Meghalaya SSA Schools Association (MSSASA), central body, as part of the second phase of protest on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister’s office apprising him about the grievances of the in-service teachers undergoing Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) programme batch 2013-14.
The teachers’ body has also sent a letter to the Chairman of tiol Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), Noida, demanding that he should issue a formal official letter endorsing the assurance and redressal of the grievances of the trainee teachers by February 16. In the memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister, the association pointed out that there is an urgent need to settle the welfare of all SSA School teachers in the state by finding out a solution to depute the In-service teachers of Upper primary and Lower primary who have not completed the two year course Professiol Training to another institute in the state.
Further, the association has requested the Chief Minister to sanction and release funds for the revised pay as notified by the SSA SEMAM, Meghalaya, Shillong for all those SSA School teachers who had completed and undergone the D.EL.ED programme batch 2013-14 and also for those who are still undergoing the programme batch 2014-15.
It may be mentioned that the trainee teachers had earlier staged a two day sit in demonstration on January 24-24 inside the premise of the tiol Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) Shillong office located at Laitumkhrah and had also taken a resolution demanding immediate constitution of a one man inquiry committee by the state government within February 2017.
