Mukul speaks  to Sonowal

Shillong, Sept 4: The Meghalaya government on Monday took a serious note on the medical seats issue involving Assam.

The State government has directed Chief Secretary Y Tsering to immediately seek intervention of the Supreme Court on the matter.

Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma also spoke to his Assam counterpart Sarbanda Sonowal on Monday morning impressing upon him on the urgent need to mutually resolve the issue at the earliest so that the future of the students is not disrupted.

 According to the Meghalaya Chief Minister, Sonowal assured him of addressing the issue from his side.

“He has assured me that he would be speaking with his Principal Secretary Health to deal with the matter,” Dr Sangma said.

The Meghalaya Chief Minister also said he has informed Sonowal that talks at the Chief Secretary and Additiol Chief Secretary levels are already underway to address the matter that could have been easily avoided.

Meanwhile, Dr Sangma said that legal measures have been activated by his government.
