MAHMORA, MAY 2: The Charaideo district committee of the Tai Ahom Yuva Parishad observed the Birangas Mulagabhoru day with two-day programme on April 29 and April 30 at Sori. The celebrations started in the morning with the hoisting of flag by Chow Taipar Charaideo Zila Samiti president Bhrigu Hatimuria and organising committee president Tulasi Gogoi.

This was followed by a series of events on the first day which included an essay and drawing competition for the students and a discussion on the topic "Identity Crisis of Ethnic Tribes of Assam".

In the evening a play titled Biranga Mulagabhoru written by Dimbeshwar Konwar and directed by Dharmajyoti Baruah was staged.

On the second day of the celebrations a cultural procession was taken out which was iugurated by Sub Divisiol Officer (SDO) Charaideo rrayan th. Later in the in the evening the award giving ceremony was held. Sori Commerce College principal Bipul Dey iugurated the ceremony by lighting a lamp.

The Birangas Mulagabhoru award was presented to eminent writer, novelist Nripuma Borgohain. Receiving the award from Lohit Gogoi, Borgohain said, "It is a moment of great joy and honour to be a part of such an auspicious ceremony." The programme was also attended by Dr. Dayanda Borgohain, president of Purbanchal Tai Xahitya Xabha and writer Arun Barua. Popular singers Ji rajkumari and Bipin Chaudang performed in the cultural evening.
