Multi-lingual poets' meet held at Udalguri

UDALGURI, March 30: A multi-lingual poets’ meet was held at Khusurabari Habi High School premise. The programme was organized under the aegies of Udalguri Jila Kavi Samaj with the active cooperation of the villagers of Khusurabari Habi.

The session was iugurated by Jeevan Nirola, the Headmaster of this school, and presided over by Sashi Kumar Sarmah, the president of Udalguri Kavi Samaj. The programme was anchored by Ranju Das, the general secretary of Udalguri Kavi Samaj. bin Malla Boro, Sahitya Akademi Child Literary award winning writer, reviewed the recited poems and lauded the local people of the village for their noble endeavour to enhance literary activities in this region. Lajpat Chouhan and Gurucharan Rajbhar of Hindi Bhasi Samaj felicitated the guests on the occasion.

In that session Nepali, Assamese, Hindi and English poems were recited by poets. Among them, Bhabesh Dutta, Bipani Devi, Revika Das, Anju Goswami Kalita, Pradip Baishya, Madhu Patowari Karu Dev Sarma, Aarati Dutta, Dhanjit Rai, Kabita Chhetry, Buddhamaya Tammang, Rajen Rai, Gurucharan Rajbhar, Lajpat Chouhan were prominent poets who recited their poems. Goutamjyoti Talukdar and Rewati Raman Sapkota also attended and guided the session.

Hiranmayee Goswami Das was felicitated for being awarded second prize in a State-level poem competition with a citation, pen, book and a gamocha. Baidyath Upadhyaya was also felicitated by Udalguri Kavi Samaj for being awarded by the Human Resource Development Ministry for his book on Hindi verses Gagan ke us paar.
