Municipal Board dedicates road in memory of lawyer

MANGALDAI, Dec 26: Mangaldai Municipality Board (MMB), recalling the contribution and service of eminent lawyer-cum-former legislator of Mangaldai town, has dedicated one of its important roads connecting NH 15 with Mangaldai stadium at Ward No-2 in memory of Badaruddin Ahmed on the auspicious day of Christmas.

Badaruddin Ahmed was a former legislator of the Assam Assembly, a renowned social reformer and a prominent lawyer of the erstwhile Darrang district. Chairman of MMB, Pratap Bordoloi in presence of Dr Amanul Hoque, retired Head of Botany of Mangaldai College as well as one of the sons of Badaruddin Ahmed, the chairman of Mangaldai Development Authority, Mahibur Rahman, vice-chairman of MMB, Zinkul Ali, besides a good number of local leading citizens, unfurled the permanent me plate installed at the entrance of the road under the aegis of Rani Child Care, a pioneer local child health institution.

To mark the reming ceremony, a roadside brief public function was organized where few speakers including veteran academician Sahidul Islam, Abdur Rahman and jourlist Mayukh Goswami recalled the contributions of Badaruddin Ahmed in the field of education, social development and hoped that with united efforts from all corners of the society, this road would soon transform into an ideal road for travellers within the municipality area in terms of an eco-friendly clean environment. Earlier eminent pediatrician Dr Ijajul Hoque delivered the welcome address and explained the objectives of the function.
