Munin retains president post, Dhrubajyoti new secretary

GUWAHATI, May 6: Munin Nobis retained the President post of the Gauhati Sports Association during its Annual General Meeting which was held in the city today. Dhrubajyoti Kalita will be the new secretary of the organization.

The new executive committee of the Gauhati Sports Association was formed today and election was held for five posts-President, General Secretary, Vice President, Cricket Secretary and Hockey Secretary.

Munin Nobis confirmed his third term as the president of Gauhati Sports Association defeating Dilip Sankar Saikia by 54-31 margin. Manjit Bhagawati (62) and Bhola Boro (57) elected as the vice president. The third candidate who lost the election in Vice President Post was Moslehuddin Ahmed (47). Like the president, Dhrubajyoti Kalita also won the General Secretary post by huge margin. Dhrubajyoti received 61 votes while his two opponents L Hemanta Singh and AHM Ali got 21 and 2 votes respectively. Bablu Choudhury returned into the Cricket Secretary post by registering 48-36 victory over outgoing cricket secretary Ranjit Sarma. On the other hand Manash Nandi elected for the Hockey Secretary post. He defeated Arupjyoti Das 52-32.

The other posts of the association-which included VP (Educational Institution), Treasurer, Assistant Secretary- was filled up unanimously.

Talking to the media persons just after the meeting the newly elected General Secretary Dhrubajyoti Kalita said the new committee will try to organize the Bordoloi trophy in best possible way in the next season and will also try to bring back the lost glory of the prestigious tournament.
