Murder accused arrested

Tezpur, September 19: A murder accused, Hemanta Tanti (30) of Adabari Khelmati near Baliapara under Chardwar PS in Sonitpur district, was arrested on Monday morning by the police. The accused brutally killed the village headman of the same locality on Sunday evening. The deceased village headman was identified as Ganesh Kumar (38). Police informed that both of them were drunk and following a heated argument, the accused got infuriated and stabbed the village headman to death. However, the accused maged to remain absconding overnight, he was caught by the police on Monday morning and produced before the Tezpur court.
