Murder accused held

Itagar, June 14: Two siblings mely Horat Kalita and Bolen Kalita were on Monday detained by the Yazali Police in connection to a murder case which occurred in the jungle area of Pei Village at Ziro in Lower Subansiri district on June 7 last. A semi-decomposed dead body of a man identified as Pei Takha alias Sukro was found June 07 last by the police in the aforementioned area after which a massive hunt for the culprits were launched. Earlier, on getting information the police team along with a magistrate and doctor rushed to the spot and conducted the inquest. During investigation a prima facie murder case was established and accordingly the police registered a case U/S 302 IPC and constituted a dedicated police team to carry out the investigation. The team which was led by Inspector Pei Taga, SI A N Singh (OC Yazali) and ASI Licha Taj worked under close supervision of SP Mihin Gambo and gathered information that the deceased was last seen with his friends. On June 08 last, one Bolen Kalita (45), a friend of the deceased was detained at police station on suspect. On unrelenting interrogation, Bolen indicated the involvement of his younger brother Horat alias Sorat Kalita (37) in the murder. The police team then chased Horat Kalita with help of the tower location of his cell phone and after man hunting for three days he was filly on Monday arrested from Rangia in Assam with the assistance of Assam police. On interrogation, Horat confessed that he along with his elder brother accused Bolen had murdered the deceased by strangulating him over petty argument.
