Musical tributes to Pulwama martyrs in Silchar

Silchar: In exception to massive protests and movements and candle marches which are still being organized in one or the other part of the country against the February 14 Pulwama terror attack which claimed the lives of 44 CRPF personnel, a unique way of paying rich tributes to them was carried out by some artistes of this town on Tuesday night.

Barak Valley Artists Forum in collaboration with Cachar Sound and Light Owners Welfare Association organized a musical programme at Rangirkhari. A host of renowned singers of Barak Valley sang patriotic and emotional songs in the memory of those martyrs.

Singers Bidhan Laskar, Manjushree Das, Sujit Das, Nupur Dutta among others wore black badges as a mark of protest and also sang patriotic numbers such as the famous song from the movie Karma, ‘Dil Diya Hain Jaan Bhi Denge’ and others. A donation box was also kept there for collecting money which would be sent to the families of the martyrs. Candles are also put up in front of a temporary martyrs; column. The programme titled as ‘Ek Shaam Shaheedon ke Naam’ was a well attended one.
