Southern Dzukou declared plastic-free zone

KOHIMA: Southern Dzükou was officially declared a "Plastic Free Zone" at Viswema Dzükou entry point with Advisor, Youth Resources & Sports, Zale Neikha dedicating a monolith on the occasion, bearing testimony of Southern Angami Youth Organisation (SAYO) to preserve and protect the Dzükou valley. Zale commended the SAYO volunteers for taking the responsibility to make Dzükou plastic-free. With Dzükou being one of the most sought after destination in the State, he exhorted the Angami Youth Organisation and all stakeholders to be united and make efforts to preserve and protect Dzükou. Zale also urged various organizations in the region to take up initiative of beautifying the valley and requested the department concerned to assist and take up developmental work in the valley for eco-tourism, stated a DIPR release.

Peren DPDB meeting

KOHIMA, June 7: The monthly Peren District Planning and Development Board Meeting was held on Thursday in the DC's Conference Hall. The meeting was chaired by DC and Vice Chairman of DPDB Sarita Yadav. Among the agenda deliberated upon included proposal for the creation of a boys hostel at Nsong Town where neighbouring villages can avail the facilities at no cost. Posting of doctors in the District Hospital was proposed by Dr Hatling. Creation of Veterinary Assistant Surgeon at Tening was also proposed in the meeting, stated a DIPR release.

Economic census

KOHIMA: Kohima ADC Lithrongla Tongpi has informed that the 7th Economic Census 2019, which aims to register all the economic activities taking place within the country, will be enumerated from June 2019 to August 2019. She has directed all the village councils, wards, panchayats, colony chairmen and members within Kohima district to assist and cooperate with the enumerators and officials involved in this exercise, stated a DIPR release.

Training programme

KOHIMA: A training programme for office assistants of Peren district was held from June 4-7 at the Town Hall, old Peren Town, with Dr Alem W Longchar as the course coordinator. Resource persons for the training included Khinyi Woch, senior account officer (retired) and former financial advisor, NREGA and Andreas Lotha, NSS undersecretary to the Government of Nagaland. Course assistants included Thozono Jashu and Pokyim Ao. Fifty one participants from 28 departments attended the training, stated a DIPR release.
