Spot verification of washed-away stretch

PFUTSERO: Minister for Land Revenue, Planning and Coordination, Neiba Kronu made a spot inspection of a stretch of a road here that was washed away recently. The damaged stretch comes under the NHIDCL proposed two-laning highway which is a major road connecting Pfutsero to Phek via Sakraba and to Chetheba via Phusachodu. Minister Kronu was accompanied by SDO (Civil) Pfutsero, NHIDCL officials and the contractor of the project. A meeting was convened with all the stakeholders and departments concerned to expedite the construction of the highway in that particular stretch, stated a release.

Power tillers distributed

SEMINYU: Tseminyu Sub-divisional Agricultural Officer (SDAO) Viwheto Thorie distributed power tillers and brush cutters to progressive farmers at his office compound here recently in the presence of Tseminyu ADC Nokchasashi Ao who was the special guest at the programme. The ADC encouraged the farmers to work for the uplift of their rural economy, stated a release.

Meeting deferred

KOHIMA: Chief Secretary and Chairman, Committee of Concern, Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS), Temjen Toy, has informed all members that the 'Committee of Concern', Nagaland State AIDS Control Society meeting which was slated for July 1 has been postponed to July 5. The meeting will commence from 10 am at the Chief Secretary Conference Hall, stated a release.

New MVCC campus site

KOHIMA: Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will be launching the new campus site of Mountain View Christian College (MVCC) at Nerhe Phezha as the Special Guest on July 2. State Minister for Higher and Technical Education, Temjen Imna Along Longkumer will be the honoured guest. The leader of the programme will be the Chairman of Management Board, MVCC, Lithrongla T. Rutsa while the invocation will be rendered by the pastor of Nerhema Baptist Church, Vilanyü Üsou and a brief history of the college will be given by Member, EVF and Management Board, Dr. Kruolalie Tsürho. Short speeches will be delivered by the Chairman of Nerhema Village Council, Deizolie Virie; President NAPO, Neiyalie Pfüsenuo and ADC Chiephobozou, Vekhoyi Chakhesang. A special number will be performed by EVF member Neikhrie-o Üsou. The vote of thanks will be rendered by EVF member, Er. Sobou Kerhüo and benediction by CRC Pezielietsie, Kohima, pastor Letuolie Pienyü, stated a release.

Pet owners cautioned

PHEK: Taking into consideration the rising reported cases of nuisance and attacks caused by stray and domesticated dogs in and around Phek town, the Phek Deputy Commissioner has directed the owners of such dogs to confine the pets in their houses and not allow these animals to roam or wander freely, stated a release, adding that timely vaccination of the pets should also be ensured by the pet owners. All the ward chairmen have been requested to disseminate the information to the residents of their respective wards. Any pet owner who defies this order shall be punished under the relevant Acts and Rules of Public Nuisance, added the release.

Training programme held

LONGKHIM: A day-long training programme on cultivation of plum and mushroom as well as demonstration of plum jam making was organised by Tuensang Horticulture department at Longkhim recently. The resources persons in the programme were Imnuksungba, Yongkonglemba, Recha Imchen and Suko Lam from Tuensang. More than 60 women consisting of individuals and representatives from the different SHGs participated in the programme, statewd a release.
