Nagaland Floods: Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority issues High Alert

Kohima: In the wake of floods occurring in the state, Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority advised district administrations and district disaster management authorities of Kohima, Phek, Wokha, Mokokchung and Zunheboto districts to issue a high alert to residents and farmers residing along Sidzu/Doyang river to avoid the river banks on the downstream of Pfutsero-Chakabama road.

Nagaland Secretary Rovilato Mor said in an advisory released yesterday that due to landslides on the upstream of Sidzu river above Chakabma-Pfutsero bridge, an artificial dam has been formed and a huge water body has been accumulated, posing a serious threat to the safety of life and property on the downstream.

Mor asked for wide circulation of the advisory on social media.

The Deputy Commissioners of these districts have also been directed to mobilise and deploy the State Disaster Response Force and other available resources.
