Nambor Wildlife Reserve Forest becomes dumping ground

Golaghat: Due to alleged negligence of the Golaghat Forest Department, some nursing homes of Golaghat throw medical waste in the elephant corridor of Nambor Wildlife Reserve Forest which has posed serious threat to the wild animals.

Some nursing homes of Golaghat allegedly throw their bio-chemical waste in the elephant corridor of Nambor Reserve Forest which is used by wild elephants as well as other animals.

On Wednesday, some used syringe, saline bottles, injections and other chemicals were seen strewn in various places of Nambor Reserve Forest. It is unfortunate that some nursing homes are violating rules and regulations by dumping bio-wastage materials in forest area. As a result, wild animals are facing hindrances in their natural movement. Besides destruction of forest, various species of birds, flora and fauna in Nambor Reserve Forest are facing threat of extinction. The people of Golaghat have demanded proper enquiry and stringent action against those nursing homes and hospitals of Golaghat which allegedly are using the Nambor Reserve Forest as a dumping ground for throwing bio-medical waste.
