As per this bill, once this Bill is passed, all sorts of illegal non-Muslim immigrants that have entered into India from the three neighbouring states, namely, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh, will be provided with legal citizenship of the nation. Although this has been mentioned by the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and has also been restated by the PM that this Bills will be applicable on the entire nation, the matter to worry about is that the biggest and most negative impact of this Bill is going to be felt in Assam and its neighbouring states.

The very factor of establishing this conflicting Citizenship Bill has triggered huge unrest in Assam with the local people, organizations and even the political parties coming out to stage protest. Right from burning the effigies of the political leaders like PM Narendra Modi, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Himanta Biswa Sarma, copies of the legislation have also been burned by angry protesters. Not only this, the entire nation have got witness nude protest by the members of several leading organizations from Assam in the national capital New Delhi.

Another influential student body in Assam, the All Assam Students Union too took the lead of the march against the Citizenship Bill and called for a 12 hours Assam bandh on Tuesday in association with many other local organizations of the state.
