National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) conducts mock drills in Anjaw at Arunachal Pradesh

ANJAW, July 23: A series of disaster management mock drills were conducted in various places across Anjaw district to disseminate knowledge about Disaster Management, being basic requirements for endemic of the people here. As a follow-up of mock drills conducted under National Disaster Management Authority(NDMA) in May-June, the department again conducted a two-day capacity building programme on disaster management at Walong Circle here. Among the programmes carried out were safety training against fires, landslide, lightning, earthquake etc were imparted to the participants through PPT presentation, mock drill, distribution of safety tips and pamphlets by DDMO Anjaw.

Teachers and gaonburahs were briefed regarding the preparation of School and Village Disaster Management Plan (SDMP/VDMP) respectively. First aid box and portable 2 kilogrammes fire extinguisher were also provided to the respective schools by the department.

The teachers in-charge of the schools were asked to prepare SDMP and VDMP of their respective schools and villages and conduct the mock drills on regular basis.

The programme was attended by the gaonburahs, ex-panchayat members, members of the school management committees along with the staffs and more than 150 students from the GPS Tinai, GMES Walong and GRS Sarti.
