National Workshop on sports law held

GUWAHATI, July 21: A ‘National Workshop on Sports Law and Management’ was held at the Gauhati University complex here today. The Workshop was jointly organized by Gauhati University Law College and Studio Nilima.
Attending the inaugural session Justice L Nageswara Rao, Judge, Supreme Court of India delivered the inaugural address where he elaborated on the role and importance of sports law as an integral part of continuing legal education. The inaugural function was also attended by Dr Mridul Hazarika, Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University along with Professor Hayden Opie AM, Senior Fellow, Melbourne Law School, AP Misra, Judge (Retired), Supreme Court and Chairman Legal Education Committee, Bar Council of India.

Among other who spoke on the occasion were Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, Judge, Gauhati High Court; Usha Nath Banerjee, senior advocate, Calcutta High Court, Ombudsman, Cricket Association of Bengal and chairman, Disciplinary Committee, AIFF; Anirudh Chaudhry, treasurer, BCCI; Amitabh Choudhary, acting secretary BCCI; Justice Arup Kumar Goswami, Judge, Gauhati High Court; Dr Subhash Basumatary, Director, Sports Authority of India (NE) and Dr Abhijeet Salvi, Anti Doping, Age Verification and Medical Consultant of BCCI.
