Nationally Acclaimed Dramatist Ali Haidar Sowarani Samanway Award To Be Conferred During Eid Mehfil in Lakhimpur, Assam

LAKHIMPUR, July 31: “Eid Mehfil, an event which has been celebrated in Lakhimpur with full gaiety and fervour, will reflect the strong bond of love and perennial message of communal harmony seen in the district throughout ages,” said the president of Eid Mehfil Celebration Committee and dramatist Nazim Ahmed, general secretary Ajit Burha Gohain and assistant general secretary Ankur Khan at a press meet held at the North Lakhimpur Press Club on Tuesday.

Addressing the press meet, the celebration committee informed that the celebration of Eid Mehfil this year in the district would be organized on October 6, October 7 and October 8 in which a prestigious award in the revered memory of Ali Haidar, the nationally acclaimed dramatist of Lakhimpur, would be conferred. The award, christened as Ali Haidar Sowarani Samanway Bota, consists of a cash amount of Rs. 1,00,000.

In the meantime, a strong celebration committee with 51-members was constituted covering the representatives from all the communities living in the district for the smooth conduct of the event.
