From a Correspondent

Haflong, July 9: The chairperson of N C Hills Autonomous Council, Ranu Langthasa assured the citizens of Haflong in particular of treated and filtered water soon. Langthasa, who is looking after the PHE department, visited several vital water supply schemes in and around Haflong including Haflong Main PHE water treatment plant in presence of Deputy Chairman, Hem Bahadur Chetri, Executive Engineer, PHE, Upendra Sing and BJP Mahila Morcha member Depali Hapila on Saturday. After visiting all the water supply schemes of Haflong, chairperson Langthasa said, “We have received some complaints regarding the supply of untreated and insufficient water supply in the town. So with the team of PHE officials and BJP workers I visited the water supply schemes and also the water source at Retzuol today.”  “Most of the water supply schemes of Haflong have become old, and fail to cater to the required demand of people corresponding to the increase in population of Haflong town. Updating and proper designing of these schemes have become the need of hour to cater to proper water supply to the people. Since our government is committed to the people I hope that our Central and State governments will realize the actual requirement of the people and do the best for the mitigation of such requirement at the earliest. Tomorrow I will hold a meeting in this regard with the NCHAC and then we will start the work at least to provide filtered and treated water to the people of Haflong,” Langthasa added.
