NDFB cadre killed, woman rebel bbed

Slain rebel B idaw was involved in the 2012 violence in Lower Assam

KOKRAJHAR/BONGAIGAON, Dec 8: An NDFB (anti-Talk faction) cadre was killed in an encounter with security forces at Silaimatha forest area under Bagribari Police station under Parbatjhora sub-division in Kokrajhar district on Tuesday.

Talking to media persons, Shyamal Prasad Saikia, Superintendent of Police Kokrajhar, said that an encounter took place between NDFB (anti-talk) cadres and joint operation party of Army 7 Jat regiment and Kokrajhar district police at around 5.20 am. The cadre has been identified as Nerswn Brahma (28) alias B. idaw. Police sources said that the killed cadre of the NDFB (anti-talk) was trained in Bangladesh and was involved in the 2012 violence in Lower Assam.

Saikia said that one AK 47 rifle with two magazines, 44 live ammunition, two bags, two mobile phones, extortion notes, solar plate, clothe , blankets and other incrimiting materials were recovered from the slain militant. He also said that search operation against militants outfit had been going on in the district.

In a seperate incident,  Chirang police and Army in a joint operation bbed a female hardcore NDFB(S) cadre on Tuesday from the Indo-Bhutan border at  Daigund in Chirang district.

The female cadre has been identified as Mizingk Basumatary (23). Police sources said that Mizingk is the wife of Jwala Basumatary, NIA’s most wanted hardcore NDFB(S) cadre. “She is a 40th batch Myanmar trained cadre of 2013 of NDFB(S). One hand grede along with few documents have been recovered from her possession,” added sources.
