NDFB (S) rebel bbed, arms seized

TAMULPUR, Sept:  Acting on a tip off, Assam Police and Army in a joint operation bbed a rebel of the anti-talks faction of tiol Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB), NDFB-Songbijit, in the Kaurbaha Halibari area here in Baksa district, about  70  km from the city, on Tuesday morning. A huge cache of arms was also seized. The detained NDFB (S) rebel has been identified as Bisti Boro (21).

“Two hand gredes and some incrimiting documents were seized, “ said a top Baksa Police official.

“We have prepared a list of wanted NDFB ultras and we will intensify our search operations. We are also getting the support of locals,” he added.

Tuesday’s operation was launched based on information provided by intelligence sources. The operation was led by Tamulpur SDPO Atif Ahmed.

The detained militant was involved in a number of extortion cases besides kidpping a person in Meghalaya, Ahmed said.

In May last year, over 46 people were killed in Kokrajhar and Baksa districts of BTAD out of which 39 were killed at rayanguri, Nonk Khagrabari and rsingbari villages in Baksa. The tiol Investigation Agency (NIA) is probing the cases.
