NDFB(S) rebel held with pistol in Chirang

Bongaigaon, Feb 22: One NDFB (S) rebel was bbed in a joint operation by Chirang district police and 7th Sikh Li regimen of the Indian Army. Sankar Brata Rai Medhi, Chirang Superintendent of Police, said that an operation was launched in the wee hours of Tuesday morning by a joint team of Chirang Police and 7 Sikh Li Army Camp Bodo Bazar in Kathalguri under Bijni PS, resulting in the apprehension of a locally-trained cadre Ritu Basumatary (27), son of Rabi Basumatary of village Kathalguri under Bijni PS. A .22 pistol and mobile phone were recovered from his possession.   “He had fled to South India after Operation All Out and recently returned back. He was a close associate of cadres B ibijir and B Oufinglang who were neutralized in an encounter with security forces, and Ranjit Basumatary who has already been apprehended. Further interrogation is on and cross verification of the facts mentioned by him is going on,” he said.
