GUWAHATI, July 5: A Circle level joint mock drill on flood disaster with district stake holders was conducted in collaboration with Assam State Disaster Magement Authority (ASDMA ) near Pathsala village under Bajali revenue Circle of Barpeta district. 1st BN NDRF took active participation and assisted ASDMA in planning & co-ordition at the initial stage and played a leading role during the conduct of mock drill. NDRF, Health Dept, Ambulance 108, Fire & ES, Revenue Dept, SDRF, State Police, Gram Panchayat Members, DDMA staff, Circle officer, Circle office staff, NGOs, PHE, Volunteers & Villagers participated in the exercise.
These exercises ensure activation and prompt response of all stake holders in a district and such frequent mock drills also make the district response system more effective and result oriented at the time of actual disaster. Approximately 221 NDRF personnel, Fire & ES, SDRF, State Police, Gram Panchayat Members, DDMA staff, Circle officer, Circle office staff, NGOs, Volunteers & Villagers were involved in the joint mock drill, After the exercise de-briefing session was done in which role of NDRF was highly appreciated by huge gathering of local public civil administration. The exercise concluded in the evening with a note to organize more such exercise in future. This was stated in a press release.
