NDRF organzies mobile hospital in Majuli

GUWAHATI, July 28: On Thursday, a mobile hospital was organized by 1st Bn NDRF at villages Meragarh and Missamora under revenue circle Majuli, Jorhat.

The medical team comprised Dr Gouse-Ea-Azam, TAC (MO) and paramedical staff. Around 200 patients came to the mobile hospital and were given medicines, stated a press release. The patients were suffering from various diseases like diarrhoea, vomiting, fever, cough and common cold.

On July 26, the embankment of River Brahamputra was breached at village Bongaon under revenue circle Majuli in Jorhat due to which many villages of Majuli have been flooded. Search and rescue teams are carrying out rescue operations in flood-affected areas of Jorhat, Barpeta, Kokajhar Bongaigaon, Chirang Majuli and Dhubri districts of Assam since last week. The NDRF teams are conducting rescue and relief operation with full devotion and dedication and have evacuated more than 1,000 marooned villagers and transported them to safer places so far. Besides, teams are also assisting the district administration in distribution of relief materials in inundated areas.

At present 11 teams of NDRF with 22 deep divers, 38 boats and all other life-saving aids have been still deployed in the affected areas.
